Rotary Means Business
By: Brian Collins
Rotary Club member Dave Hyman has created the first ever business leads networking group for fellow Rotarians on the peninsula.
"Rotary Means Business," started in February, 2006, allows Rotary members to meet, discuss business, trade useful information, and promote themselves among other professionals of varying fields. The idea behind this networking group is to gain useful and reliable business contacts, while at the same time opening the door for others to use your services and refer to their friends--in other words, Rotary members helping Rotary members.
Rotarians meet at Hyman's Encore Performance Catering headquarters in Redwood City, and are treated to drinks and appetizers. Members are then asked to speak for two to three minutes about themselves and their business. There is time before and after the speeches to hand out business cards and talk one-on-one with other Rotarians as well. Lawyers, bankers, realtors, financial advisers, hair dressers, caterers, and web designers are among the many different kinds of professions held by the members of these events.
Rotary Means Business meetings are held the first Wednesday of every month at 6 PM at Dave Hyman's kitchen, located at 2992 Spring Street, Unit C, Redwood City, CA 94063. There is a $10 cover charge, with quality beverages and unique appetizers included. Meetings last approximately two hours, and are open to Rotary Club members only.
